Did you know that bus services are available in Greater Minnesota?  Even small communities like Ada, Ruthton and Elba are served by transit systems, as well as larger communities like Detroit Lakes, St. Cloud and Mankato. Public Transit serves everyone and ridership is growing, but many people still don’t know that about these services or how to access them.

The Minnesota Transportation Education and Outreach Center is working to help transit systems become more visible and serve more people. People like:

Hope who rides the SMART bus to get to work and to shop. Without this service, Hope would not be able to get where she needs to be reliably.  She would have to rely on friends who may not be available when she needs them.  Dependable bus services allows people like Hope to live independently and to be productive members of the community.

Mary who needs bus service to get to kidney dialysis and other medical appointments. Without local bus service, she would have to move to a larger city or move into an assisted living facility.

Kids who ride the bus to daycare or after school activities.  Without the Rolling Hills bus system, children wouldn’t be able to participate in many activities and parents would have to take time off from work to make the round-trip drive. Long distances in rural areas can make juggling work and family difficult.
